cotton bags, messenger bag, reusable bags- Chinese commander praises model troops for disaster relief

LANZHOU -- A senior Chinese military official Tuesday praised the country's troops for their relief work in regions hit by natural disasters and called on the armed forces to promote the virtues and deeds of model personnel.
Xu Caihou, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, made the remarks while meeting military representatives at a function to honor model institutions and individuals for their work after natural disasters this year.
At the event in Lanzhou, capital of northwest China's Gansu Province, 60 institutions and 100 personnel from the People's Liberation Army and the armed police force were commended.
The armed forces should learn from those who had demonstrated unswerving will in obeying the command of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and sublime virtue in serving the people, Xu said.
He further called for greater efforts to step up the building of the military and urged the armed forces to continue relief and rehabilitation work in disaster-stricken areas.
More than 400,000 troops joined rescue and relief efforts this year as China experienced severe floods, drought and landslides in different regions.
