Celia Cruz: Reminiscing The Time Of The Salsa Music Queen
From a Cuban family, Celia Cruz came into this world on the 21st day of October in the year 1924. Just before she started out her life as professional Salsa music artist, she lived her lifetime in a little town in Havana referred to as Barrio Santos Suarez. Even in her youth, Cruz's interest in music was previously apparent. Whenever tourists would come to their village, the young Celia Cruz would likely perform like a real opera artist, leaving everyone in total amazement. Once, she gotten a pair of shoes from a vacationer who got captivated by her performing prowess. In addition, in any type of occasions just like in school and in their local community, she was always asked to perform. Yet that was not the start of her expert career in music yet as it only took place when her aunt made her to sing in clubs. Together with the assistance and support of her relative, she opted to try auditioning for talent shows within the area. Vast majority of the contests she joined ended with a sweet success and those very few loses have been charged to her experience. Initially, Cruz was intended to pursue a college degree in teaching, as was her father's desire. However music really caught her heart making her unable to go on with the course. In lieu to that, she made a decision to enter Cuba's Conservatory of Music throughout the year 1947 and met an Afro-Cuban Salsa music performer, Paulina Alvarez who assisted her to do well in Salsa music. After being requested to perform together with the band named la Sonora Matancera, the Duke Ellington Orchestra's Latin counterpart, she began her official career in Salsa. For fifteen years, she was at the band and got her chance to expedition distinct countries around the world. The band's trumpet player, Pedro Knight who turned out to be her own manager and the musical director of the band turned out to be her husband in 1962. Yet there was a particular band which was created only for Cruz so she make a decision to separate from her past band throughout the year 1965. On the other hand, after 8 successful albums, the group had to disband. Following that, Cruz became an integral part of the mainstream industry. To mention one, she performed Grammy Award events around 1987. She made an appearance in films and recorded many songs that made her identified as the Queen of Salsa all through her renowned years. Yet a sad time came in to Cruz when she was diagnosed for brain cancer which compelled her to quit performing. For a while, she was successfully operated but ultimately died on July 16, 2003.
